Good Friday was Miles' first day off of work in quite a while. I talked him out of making me do yard work until the next day, but couldn't quite talk him into seeing Water for Elephants.
We started our day off with a small healthy portion of food at Cracker Barrell. What? Your Cracker Barrell doesn't have small healthy, just right portions? That's weird, mine does. What your Cracker Barrell might also be missing is an all-out horendous allergy attack. But, mine had that too! My allergies make me look like I am having a really bad day, even when I am not. Our waitress kept shooting Miles dirty looks after she asked if we were ready, and I responded tearfully that we needed a minute. I am pretty sure she thought we needed a minute to work things out.

That afternoon we headed to the Omni Theater to see Tornado Alley. (Miles is obsessed with weather, his weather scanner, the weather service website, and any other weather-related news.) My favorite part of going to Omni is the helicopter ride at the beginning. I don't know if I can explain this, if you've never experienced it yourself! The helicopter ride has been a part of the movies playing at Omni, since I can remember. I've always loved the helicopter ride they take you on before it starts, but it has new meaning in my life....embarrassing Miles. Each time we go, I pretend to be in a helicopter, all excited and anxious, and I point out landmarks to him with big pointing gestures. The best is when all of my friends stand on the top of the museum to wave at me, and I get to wave at them from up in my helicopter. He loves it. ;)
When we were buying our tickets to the movie, we got free tickets to the museum exhibits using the rest of a coupon from the family in front of us. So, after the glorified episode of Storm Chasers, we headed out to culture ourselves.
This exhibit details the way the Barnett Shale was formed and how we get natural gas from deep below the surface. Miles is a landman, so our day had just turned into his Day o' Fun at this discovery. Eventually, I had to drag him out of there, reminding him, "I don't like science. I can only take so much." And, please don't try to convince me that science affects my life daily. I am an adult and can't be fooled.
You are too funny, Michelle. Keep Miles and us laughing.
